May News Letter

Scholastic Book Fair :
Mrs. Leach and the Pacific Beach Elementary Parent Group will help run the book fair the week of May 11-17. The books will be set up in the school library and once again will be a “buy one get one free sale”.

School After School :
The last day for School After School will be May 10 th. We hope that your students had fun doing sewing, arts and crafts, and learning to speak Spanish.

Young Authors :
Miss Black will be taking those students who signed up for “Young Authors” on a trip to the Young Authors’ Conference on May 12 th at the Hoquiam High School. Our students will be picked up at 7:30 a.m. and will return at 2:00.

Girls’ Volleyball Jamboree:
The Girls’ Volleyball team will participate in a Jamboree May 16 th at 3:30. Our team will be picked up here at 2:30 and transported to Ocean Shores Elementary and they will return here at approximately 6:00.

Kindergarten Registration – May 14-18, 2007 :
We will be registering kindergarten students for the 2007-2008 school year during the week of May 14-18, 2007. Mrs. Burgher-Ring will also be at the school on Thursday evening, May 17 th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. for those parents who cannot come in during the school day.

In order to register your child for kindergarten, they must be 5 years old on or before August 31, 2007. Please bring proof of immunization and a birth certificate at time of registration.

Family Night-“Pop Into Reading” :
Pacific Beach Elementary Parent Group and AmeriCorp representative Kellie Meers will host a family night on Thursday, May 17 th from 6:30-7:30 p.m. There will be a “Book Walk” and other activities. Popcorn will be served.

Early Dismissal/Memorial Day Holiday :
May 25 th will be our next early dismissal day. All students will be dismissed at 12:45 that day. Also, all North Beach Schools will be closed on Monday, May 28 th in honor of Memorial Day.

Science Fair/Eggstravaganza/Bottle Rocket Launch:
Mr. Villar will be in charge of the Science Fair this year. The projects will be displayed in the library on Thursday, May 31 st. On Friday, June 1 st, we will be holding the infamous “Egg-Drop Challenge” and ever popular “Bottle Rocket Launch”. Watch your children’s backpacks for a more detailed flier.
